Privacy statement

Rekenhetuitnu.nl (‘we’, ‘us’) respects your privacy. This privacy statement explains which data are processed when you visit this website, why, and which rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This is an English translation; in case of any difference, the Dutch version prevails.

1. Who is responsible?

The operator of Rekenhetuitnu.nl is the data controller within the meaning of the GDPR. You can reach us through the contact form.

2. Your calculations stay on your own device

All calculators on Rekenhetuitnu.nl run exclusively in your own browser (client-side). The amounts and choices you enter, such as your salary, income, assets, rent or travel distance, are not sent to our servers and are not stored anywhere. We have no database and no user accounts. As soon as you close the page, your input is gone.

3. Local storage for your cookie choice

We keep one small preference in your browser’s local storage (localStorage): your cookie choice (consent given or refused, with the date). This information never leaves your device and is strictly necessary to respect your choice. You can delete it at any time via your browser settings. Your language choice is not stored: the Dutch and English versions each have their own web address.

4. Hosting and server logs (Cloudflare)

The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc.). To deliver the site securely and quickly, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, the time of your visit, the file requested and your browser type. Cloudflare acts as our processor and processes these data on the basis of our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in a secure and available website, including protection against abuse and attacks. We do not use these data to identify or track you.

5. Advertising via Google AdSense

To offer Rekenhetuitnu.nl free of charge, we show advertisements through Google AdSense, provided by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Google AdSense is only loaded after you have given your consent in our cookie banner (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Article 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunications Act).

If you consent, Google and its advertising partners may place and read cookies and similar technologies to show and personalise ads, to limit how often you see the same ad and to measure their effectiveness. This may involve processing your IP address, device and browser data and information about your visit to this page. Google may transfer these data to servers in the United States; Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. More information can be found in Google’s privacy policy for partner sites. You can switch off personalised advertising in Google Ad Settings.

If you refuse, we do not load the AdSense script and no advertising cookies are placed. The calculators then work fully. We use Google Consent Mode v2, with all advertising and analytics consents set to ‘denied’ by default.

5a. Contact form (Web3Forms)

If you use the contact form, we process your name, email address, the chosen subject and your message. We use these data only to answer your question and to correct any errors on the website. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by ticking the box in the form.

The form is sent via Web3Forms, a service that forwards your message to our mailbox. Web3Forms acts as our processor and, according to its own statement, does not permanently store the content of messages. Web3Forms may process data on servers outside the European Economic Area; see the Web3Forms privacy policy. The form does not place cookies. Please do not share your citizen service number (BSN) or other special categories of personal data through the form.

6. Withdrawing or changing your consent

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the ‘Cookie settings’ button at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal. You can remove cookies that have already been placed via your browser settings.

We do not store any personal data through the calculators. If you send us a message via the contact form, we keep your name, email address and message for as long as necessary to handle your question and for no longer than twelve months afterwards.

9. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict processing, to object and to data portability. Apart from messages sent via the contact form, we do not store any data about you; for data processed by Google or Cloudflare, we will refer you to them. Submit a request via the contact form (subject ‘Privacy request’); we respond within one month.

If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

10. Security

The website is only accessible via an encrypted HTTPS connection. Because your calculator input is never sent or stored, there is no risk of a data breach involving your calculations.

11. Changes

We may amend this privacy statement, for example if we start using other services. The date at the top shows when the text was last changed.
